SCHOOL COMPARISON MEASURES: Finding a PPP School With Characteristics/Demographics Similar to Your Own

The following documents categorize the 24 schools involved in the Promising Practices Project (PPP) by a number of different criteria (e.g., type of school, size of school, AYP proficiency status, percentage of ELL students, etc.).  Using these documents, you can determine which PPP school(s) have characteristics/demographics similar to your own school and then, by clicking on the school's name within the document, you can read their Case Study and find out what strategies they believe led to their high growth.

Get Acrobat Reader  TYPE OF SCHOOL   Two categories --- Magnet or Neighborhood
Get Acrobat Reader  SIZE OF SCHOOL (Student Enrollment)   Three categories --- 200-300 students, 301-499 students or 500+ students
Get Acrobat Reader  AYP (Adequate Yearly Progress) PROFICIENCY   Two categories --- Making AYP or Not Making AYP
Get Acrobat Reader  ELL (English Language Learners)   Percentage of ELL students at the school / Three categories --- 1-25%, 26-50% or 51+%
Get Acrobat Reader  POVERTY   Percentage of Students Who Qualify for Free/Reduced Price Meals / Three categories --- 1-35%, 36-70% or 71-100%
Get Acrobat Reader  MOBILITY   The degree to which classrooms are disturbed by students who enroll and/or leave the school during the school year / Two categories --- at/above the district average (20%) or below the district average
Get Acrobat Reader  STABILITY   The percentage of students who are enrolled at the school the entire school year (160 days or more) / Two categories --- at/above the district average (90%) or below the district average
